Signed a written agreement with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to raise the tax-free income threshold to 1.78 million yen and, in exchange, to help pass the fiscal 2026 tax reform legislation and budget within the fiscal year. The measure raises the basic deduction for salaried workers earning up to 6.65 million yen, is worth roughly 4,000 to 36,000 yen a year per person, and is limited to two years.
